What Steve Has To Say!

Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster

Okay honestly, why is Lady Gaga re-releasing her album The Fame. This is a dumb idea. She has 14 tracks on the album, and now re-releases it with 8 new songs. Can somebody tell me what the point of this is? Would it not make more sense to release a new with a fair amount of music that would normally be on an LP and include the 8 new songs. Sure, then there are complaints that album sales suffer and do not even compare to the original album. It's no secret that Gaga fans have The Fame album already. However, music lovers and collectors will download the eight new songs. Almost nobody is going to spend money on something that they already have. Mind you, there are people that will buy it just because they are big fans of hers and want to have the whole collection. If this was Madonna, Michael Jackson, or Elvis, album sales would be through the roof. However, Lady Gaga has not reached that level yet and for now, yes, her album sales will suffer because of it until her next full length LP... with more new material.

Nickelback: The Debate Rolls On

Why is everybody pulling the leg of Nickelback? I mean, there is worse out there. Everyone claims that their music sounds the same, the lead singers voice is annoying, they are wannabe rockers, and their lyrics are cheese. Truth is, it's all a matter of preference. Yet, I fail to understand why people over criticise them and dont even give them a chance. Listen to their lyrics, and REALLY LISTEN to their songs and notice that they DO NOT sound the same. It's obvious that the bands lead singer, Chad Kroeger, has the same voice in every song. It's true... he does. However, so does Sean Paul, Lady Gaga, Coldplay (especially), or any other artist for that matter. That's not a reason to say their music sounds the same. I need more evidence. I am not convinced, and never will be. Nickelback has won just as many awards as your typical "huge" band like U2, or Matthew Good Band. Their awards include Best Rock Group, Best Rock Album, Best Alternative Artist, just for the American Music Awards alone. For the Billboard awards, they've took home Album Of the Year and Hottest Rock Duo. They dominated the 2009 Juno awards. Does a band get this many awards for these categories because they're bad? NO WAY!
