"Motivational and True story of compassion"

source: New York Times

By: Steven Skinner

This movie depicts real life NFL star Michael Oher's ( played by Quinton Aaron ) real life story. a story of a struggling black man who is heading on a dark path in life. He lives in a battered community, his father is dead and his mother a junkie. Michael or " Big Mike " only has football to calm and sooth his misfortunes. Tis until he is discovered under dressed and homeless by the Tuohy family who offer to take him in and provide him with a place to stay. What Sean ( Tim McGraw ) and Leanne (Sandra Bullock) Tuohy didn't know is that they have actually brought in a talented aspiring football player and decide they will go to all heights they can to help Mike get a football schlorship. With every college fighting to get Michael on their roster and Mike's street induced and drug smoggling past coming back to offer him the family may have bit off more then they can chew. Quinton Aaron plays a brave and sincere performance as he makes his film debut and joined with Tim Mcgraw and Sandra Bullock as in the film they capture the true meaning of compassion in this entailing story that will leave you looking at football player Mike Oher with a new light.

The Blind Side is a very good movie that depicts a whole life story in one hour and fifty three minutes. I would definetley reccommend this movie to everyone, even if your not a football fan. This movie has all the drama and suspense to keep you from your popcorn and skip getting refills on your drink. The Tuohy family faces many conflicts in the film and just as you think all is well they are hit with another. Quinton Aaron plays an amazing role as "Big Mike", he had to go threw huge lengths to get the role. He was even forced to lose 100 pounds before filming. The only part of this movie that I feel was missed was the fact that Oher kept having flashbacks of something dramatic in his life and it is never reveiled what it was. All in all this movie is an emotional rollercoaster and you will want to hold your bladder for this one.

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 The Squekquel

Of all the movies that are coming out this is the movie that I want to see most. Alvin, Simon and Theodore are at it again as they try their best to be the most popular well... chipmunks in their highschool. They almost have it under wraps, but there is one surprise that is in the way, The Chippettes! Brittany, Jeanette, and Elenor are the new crew in town and they are quickly stealing the spotlight of the world's three favorite furry friends. You can expect great laughs and a great movie for the whole family. Film comes out in theatres Dec.23, but the sound track which includes hits from the Chipmunks and the Chippettes performing hits like Single Ladies, You Spin Me Right Round and many more. Cd comes out Dec 1st at any HMV location.
