Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Plot Summary: Harry Potter Poster

Voldemort's power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. The first instalment of the two-film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned. Despite their long friendship, a combination of dark forces, romantic tensions, and long-held secrets threaten to sabotage the mission. Combined Summary found at: imdb.com and fandango.com

My Thoughts:

Another great episode in the large franchise that is Harry Potter.  I haven’t read the books but have become a huge fan of the movies and this movie is no exception, I loved this movie as much as I have the rest of the series.  I was disappointed at first to learn that the last book was split into two movies, but after watching it I’m happy they did so because that means I get to watch another one of these later.  The mark of a great movie is that one becomes so engrossed into the experience that you wish it would just keep going, and that is exactly how I felt at the end of this film.  Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson (one of the prettiest actresses to grace the big screen) and many more come back and deliver great performances as they have throughout the Harry Potter movies, and newcomers (such as Rhys Ifans who plays Luna Lovegood’s father) and returning characters (such as Dobby) fit right into the mix and add to the ever expanding roster of actors that make these movies as amazing as they are.  If you haven’t already you should definitely check out this movie, it’s well worth the $12 and around 2.5 hours spent to enjoy the film.

They will do anything to get rid of and destroy any new boyfriend Ramona may consider. If Scott wants to find true love with Ramona, he must defeat all seven, before the game is over. Summary found at: imdb.com

My Thoughts:

The greatest combination of comedy, romance, action, and music has finally come to DVD.  Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a great movie and can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone.  As a gamer, and a big fan of both action movies and comic books, this brought together so much that I like into one movie.  From familiar video game sounds, and video game like fights (especially felt when the enemies turn into coins when defeated), to the music, humour, and romance, this movie comes together amazingly and makes for an awesome movie watching experience.  Michael Cera plays another fairly awkward character Scott Pilgrim, but this time we get to see him rock out and beat the crap out of people.  The acting is great, as each character has very distinct personalities (many very over the top, and zany).  If you want a really good movie to watch don’t hesitate about checking this one out.

Upcoming Movie

Thor

My Thoughts: Thor poster

As I am very much into comic books (I consider myself somewhat of a comic book nerd), the sheer quantity of movies both released and upcoming that are based on comic books has me extremely excited.  That said I thought I would quickly mention the next movie in this genre, and that is Thor.  As Marvel gets closer and closer to giving us The Avengers movie, Thor is the next character of that super powered team to be introduced in his own feature film.  I can’t wait to see this movie (partly because I just want to see more super powered action) and it’s not too far away, as it is set to be released on May 6th, 2011.
