What's ON In The City!
By Daniel KorenMetric, Tokyo Police Club,The Dears, and Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains will join forces for the "Sounds of Canada" "Jingle Bell Rock" tour of Canadian cities this December. They will be in Toronto Friday Dec. 12 and Saturday Dec. 13 at the Sound Academy. Tikets are still on sale. San Francisco DJ Mike Relm will also appear on the tour as its only non-Canuck act. A portion of ticket sales from "Jingle Bell Rock" will go to various charities that help children in need during the holidays.
Grainger and the Dears both have headlining dates in support of recently released new albumsbbefore "Jingle Bell Rock" begins, but Tokyo Police Club are just chilling until their appearance on "Desperate Housewives".
Metric, on the other hand, are just gearing up to release their follow-up to 2005' Live It Out. In a letter on the front page of their website, Metric call "Jingle Bell Rock" the "Help, I'm Alive Tour" after one of the new record's song titles, and they plan to debut the new album on the tour. They also say the album is finished and that they are looking at release dates "in the early part of next year."
Matisyahu, everyone's favorite rapping Rabbi, is returning to Toronto for the first time in two years. He will be playing at Phoenix Concert Theatre on Dec. 16 at 8PM.
Matisyahu plays an amazing show and no one in their right mind would want to miss this. K'naan, a Somalian-Canadian Rapper/Poet will be opening for him. I saw K'naan at Lollapalooza in Chicago and he was simply amazing. The entire crowd got involved with his music and his lyrics are actually about social and political problems across the globe.
Definitley a must see! Both of these individuals have such promise as musicians and we all expect to see them both go very far. Some magazines have called K'naan the savior of hip hop and Matisyahu obviously saw immense potential in the young Somalian-Canadian.
One of the best bands of the decade, The Killers, are coming to Toronto and it is going to be wild! On January 23rd at the Air Canada Center, The Killers will be performing tracks from their brand new album Day And Age, and also hits from Hot Fuss and Sam's Town. M83 will be the opening band, who will assuredly start the party off right. Tickets are sold out technically but any die-hard fan can find tickets on Craigs List or various other ways on the web. Good luck! Check out the Killers perform Human at Massey Hall, right here in Toronto.

The Airborne Toxic Event will be playing some great tunes, whether "Sometime around Midnight," "Something New," or "Innocence" the band always has something good up their sleeve. Also, the venue is El Mocambo which is a really laid back spot for just listening to some good tunes. The band will be there March 4 and I definitley would label it the must see concert of March.
